I researched and bought many before finding the perfect coffee brewer
By Elana M. Wilkins
In the last two months I’ve bought several auto coffee pots looking for the one that would make GREAT coffee and NOT just keep it hot. If you want a coffee pot to keep the coffee scalding hot then buy the Cuisinart DTC-975BKN Thermal 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker. It will scald your mouth for hours and hours. Frankly I don’t understand why anybody wants coffee that hot, maybe because you cant then taste how awful it is? I also bought the Bonavita 1800 both the glass container and the Stainless Steel. I watched repeatedly as the water neglected to come out of all the holes so both those went back. I waited months for the 1900TS model to come back in stock. After ordering waited with dread because the reviews came back negative. I’ve made several pots of coffee now. There is NO plastic smell or taste and I’m VERY picky about that. I do use the pre-infusion method each time I brew and It seems to make for a fuller taste. The coffee is hot and tastes AMAZING. I’m used to a French Press and like my coffee strong with a small amount of cream. I used different fresh roasted beans and ground them medium fine. Under reviews read David C. Battey’s comments. He was very helpful in my finding the perfect setting for the best taste. Its hard to understand how such a simple machine can make the best tasting coffee but I can see its using the pour over method to a certain extent and there seems to be a great following as to the great taste of that type of coffee. I prefer this machine’s coffee to my French Press and I NEVER thought anything would top FP for me. It takes 6 minutes to brew a full pot, less time for 4 cups which I prefer. when making a small amount the taste is EXACTLY like when I brew a full pot. Important I feel. Also I made sure that all the holes were dispensing water at one point or another. I have not tested the water temp but since the coffee tastes amazing I guess It must be doing its job. Without warming the pot prior to brewing the coffee inside remained HOT for 2 hours, after that it remained on the warmer side for another 2 hours. After 4 hours it was warmish but needing a microwave I feel. I do NOT drink my coffee scalding hot because I want to TASTE it. I feel this pot kept the coffee at a great drinking temp for around 4 hours. David C. Battey’s comments about the lip and not getting all the coffee or water out of the pot are accurate. Its kinda weird. You really have to shake the pot back and forth to get the last couple tablespoons out. Not a big deal to me but annoying. The machine feels solid and well built. The plastic components feel hefty and solid. The top of the pot that you screw on is solid and when you screw it on feels very secure. I really didn’t want to spend this kind of money but honestly nothing else I bought or used compared. I want a smooth cup of coffee without bitterness that I can make faster not only for me but more importantly for company. Very happy with the money spent.

An Improvement, But Still Not the Best of the Best
By Benji W
Watch Video Here: http://ift.tt/1DJ4BgW As a longtime owner and fan of the Bonavita BV1800, I had to get my hands on the BV1900TS to see how it stacked up against its predecessor.
Long story short: it’s better than the BV1800, but not better than the Brazen Plus by Behmor.
***Improvements/The Good***
-The carafe spout and lid are A LOT better on the BV1900. It’s a very tight seal with a very clean pour. No spills.
-The water reservoir is bigger, and the water level marks are easier to read.
-The brew basket is flat and doesn’t leave any brewed coffee behind like the conical brew basket of the BV1800 did
-The coffee is better. Less bitter. Less acidic. More balanced. Still rich.
-Bigger shower head for more even coffee saturation.
***The Bad***
-There still isn’t a convenient place to keep the carafe lid when you aren’t using the coffee maker. I wish it could be kept on the carafe, with the brew basket above it.
-It’s very difficult to know whether the pre-infusion setting is on or not. See update below.
-Water still exits the shower head in an unpredictable and inconsistent pattern. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not.
-The pre-infusion setting isn’t adjustable. Only option is 30 seconds. With the Brazen Plus you can choose how long the pre-infusion/bloom will last.
-I’m not 100% convinced the water reaches 195˚F on the brew. I know my thermometer has about a 5 second reading delay, but still….
So, once again: this is definitely one of the best SCAA Certified coffee makers out there, but I’d still choose the Brazen Plus over the BV1900. Still, the BV1900 would be my choice over the Technivorm (based on price…not sure about taste), BV1800, and Bunn Phase Brew.
Second place ain’t bad!
***UPDATE 1/9/15***
Bonavita cleared up the confusion about the pre-infusion setting in the comments. I don’t recall seeing these instructions in the booklet, but here it is:
“After holding for about five seconds, the light will blink once to deactivate, twice to activate. If the feature is activated, the light will blink throughout the brewing cycle, otherwise it will be solid. It should allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds before brewing.”

Best coffee I’ve ever had I made in my own kitchen
By Brandon R.
If you’ve lived your life up to this point with watered down drool passing itself as coffee… Maybe even bought a keurig, thinking that would be your great-restaurant key to descent coffee (keurig is $200, so the coffee has to be great, right?)… You owe it to yourself to BUY THIS WONDERFUL MACHINE AT THIS MOMENT.
The best cup of coffee I’ve ever had… I made in my own kitchen.
Buy. Buy. Buy.
