not perfect, but close
By peterforpats
first, i like hot coffee not the tepid brew that comes out of most coffee makers nowadays. this machine brews coffee at the correct temp , especially if you add milk or creamer to your coffee. the large 14 cup capacity is perfect for my wife and me in the mornings when we both want a large mug of “starter” coffee and the have plenty left to carry to work. before we always had to make two pots. it is easy to operate and very easy to see the nicely lit display. if you want to make less than a full pot it has settings for that and more. it is slower to brew than our old coffee maker ,but worth the little extra for the correct temp. the only other nitpick is i wish it had a removable water resevoir to carry directly to the sink. our old coffee maker had that feature and we really liked it. but here’s the thing- this thing makes great coffee. if you go to the expense of buying good beans(or even if you don’t) you want the best cup to live up to your kona or celebes or whatever you prefer. this machine delivers where it counts, finally . there are a lot of expensive (and cheap) coffee makers that aren’t worth a darn-this one is!!!

Perfect coffee from an easy-to-use coffeemaker
By N. Keller
While the instruction manual has a few language translation glitches (so, what’s an “appliance garage”?), the use and maintenance of this appliance are straight-forward. The coffee I’m making (from freshly ground Peet’s French roast) is just about perfect, even in small (four-cup) quantities. Although this Cuisinart is not a speed champion, it certainly brews excellent coffee at an acceptable rate. It looks good on the counter, too. Routine cleaning (needed for consistently good coffee with any coffeemaker) is easy enough.
If I were to nitpick, I wish: the unit were an inch or so shorter for better clearance under overhead kitchen cabinets to add water; the carafe had a glass rim for even easier cleaning and complete emptying; and, the clock could be set in reverse as well as forward. For me, this is all minor stuff.
I read a couple of reviews complaining about leaks. But from what I can determine, this can be caused by removal of the carafe during the brewing process, and not replacing it within the 20 seconds Cuisinart allows (resulting in a backup of water as it flows through the coffee grounds). Another cause would be using too fine a grind of coffee; and another from using the metal mesh basket with a paper filter. These cautions are all in the instructions.
As a note, Amazon delivered this coffeemaker promptly and safely. Cuisinart’s box was placed inside a plain corrugated box filled with good packing material.
Would I buy this again? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Yes.

OK, a followup after one week of use…a fault, pointed out by a few others has appeared. The top button does not always release the lid so I can remove/replace grounds and water. Although a fingernail inserted around the button will coax it open, this should not be necessary. And, it’s not a consistent problem. But, from what I can tell, it might actually be surface tension from steam collecting under the lid that causes the lid to “stick”. A stronger spring release or even a small handle to lift the lid would probably fix the problem. Cuisinart’s engineers need to get this fixed.
The upshot is, as someone else reported, Cuisinart will honor the warranty, but even after just a week of use, they expect the user to pay for all shipping. This can get expensive. On the other hand, Amazon gets five stars for promising to send me out a new coffeemaker, and providing a return label — cheerfully, and at no cost to me. Gotta love Amazon for saving the day!

As a postscript, everything has worked out well. The replacement Cuisinart arrived promptly and at no charge, and with no problems at all. In a side-by-side comparison before returning the original coffeemaker, I found the two release springs (the two buttons inside the lid, at the front) are noticeably stronger in the replacement.

faulty design
By Elisa M. Peralta
I agree that this model makes great tasting coffee and very hot, perfect if you add milk/cream. However, as one previous reviewer stated, the top latch does not work. After 1 week of using this coffee maker, the top latch would not open. Had to open it with a knife. I then returned it and exchanged it for a new one hoping it was just bad luck, but the same thing happened after only a few days. I have now returned it for the last time and will find a different model, maybe a different brand.
