I actually bought this at Target, but I am so pleased with it that I wanted to get a review up on Amazon. It is simple to operate but gives you a brew choice of regular or strong. The pot fits nicely (not likely to get knocked out and break) and keeps the coffee warm. You can fill the water by either taking off the back or by pouring in from the top. Comes with a gold filter which is simple to use and clean. If you want a fast, reliable coffee maker that doesn’t waste your time with a lot of extra options, but makes good coffee, this one is for you. I think it was worth the money I paid – you can get something you think may be the same for less – but I’m glad I spent a more than $40 this time around. I really can tell the difference. (Sorry Black & Decker, Mr. Coffee & Hamilton Beach.)

Initially I purchased this as a gift, however the intended recipient had already received a coffee maker. I decided to keep this for myself as I have become disappointed in my “K” coffee maker. Weak coffee and expensive kcups. I followed the initial rinse and brew without coffee or filters. I brewed 4 cups regular strength and it was much better than the “k’s. I then next brewed 4 cups on the “bold” setting, and the coffee was absolutely terrific. I never had such great coffee. I used the paper filters instead of the gold filter. To me, the paper seemed to make a smoother tasting cup of coffee. I’ve been filling the reservoir by turning the coffee maker around and didnt have any problems with filling. Most to the complaints center around the dripping when raising the lid to dump out the filter. I’ve solved this by only opening it enough to retrive the filter for dumping and then wiping off the reservoir cover of the few drips. Most coffee makers suffer from the same problem. So far, Im well pleased with the coffee and the coffee maker. My only problem is finding a replacement glass carafe to keep in stock so as to have a spare when my wife breaks the original carafe…..And believe me she will!! You cant go wrong if you want terrific coffee. BUY IT!!

This is our second KitchenAid. We enjoy the coffee, and prefer the glass carafe as opposed to the thermal ones. Neither one of us likes lots of bells & whistles on a coffeemaker, especially when you are half asleep and just want to get going in the morning. Our only complaint is that of others: When you lift up the lid to empty the grounds from the basket, the condensation pools up on top and often runs down the sides onto your countertop. Not a huge deal, just a minor nuisance. Also, with this newer model, I’ve noticed it loses time. Roughly every week I have to reset it approximately 5 minutes. I don’t use it for timed brew, so no issue, but really,if I did, I’d probably send it back.
